QIMR PhD Awards

QIMR PhD Awards are offered to supplement or top-up an external PhD scholarship.

QIMR will offer up to six awards of $10,000 to "confirmed" PhD students in the second year of their candidature. These awards will cover 18 months of a students' PhD;this year from July 2009 to December 2010.

Requirements for $10,000 competitive "confirmation" awards:

Students must have a competitive scholarship, have completed their first year review and been "confirmed" as a PhD student
Students must be in their second year of a PhD as of May 30, 2009
Applications must be given to the Education Coordinator by 5pm Friday May 29, 2009
Preference will be given to full-time PhD students

Awards will be allocated during the June meeting of the Higher Degrees Committee.
Successful applicants will be notified by the end of June.

NB Awards are given on merit: based on the students' first year review, publication record and attendance at QIMR student seminars. A student must have a competitive external scholarship to apply for a QIMR PhD award and have a QIMR supervisor
