Cancer Metastasis

Metastasis is the spread of cancer from the primary site to other more distant sites in the body. While primary cancers are often effectively treated by surgery, it is metastasis that kills. Our scientists are making significant progress in the international effort to combat cancer metastasis with projects in the following areas:

• role of proteases in cancer spread
• identification of genes involved in the development of metastasis
• cell adhesion and cancer spread
• membrane receptors
• immunotherapy trials
