Q-Gen (translational research)

Q-Gen is a fully-integrated facility for translational research within QIMR.

Q-Gen specialise in the manufacture of cell therapy products according to good manufacturing practice (GMP) grade. The facility's cellular therapy laboratory comprises eight clean rooms with individual anterooms, air pressure control and equipment monitored by a Data Acquisition System (DAS). The facility also includes a cytotoxic room, cryostorage rooms, a microbiology laboratory, a quarantine area and a GMP store.

Services for cell therapy include laboratory maintenance, stock control, preparation and review of documentation, GMP training of operators, quality control testing and validation, cryopreservation and storage, and general project management activities.

Capitalising on the expertise of QIMR investigators, Q-Gen is building a solid track record in adoptive T cell therapies for Phase I clinical trials. Q-Gen was also the site of manufacture of the first human embryonic stem cell line to be generated under cGMP. Q-Gen holds a TGA licence for the preparation and maintenance of cell banks.
