Pancreatic cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in developed countries (Source: NHMRC), with over 2,000 cases every year in Australia and an average survival of six months (Source: AIWH). By the time pancreatic cancer is diagnosed, it has usually spread to nearby organs and lymph nodes.
Not much is known about what causes pancreatic cancer.
Our research focuses on:
- Conducting the Queensland Pancreatic Cancer Study to investigate the genetic and environmental risk factors of pancreatic cancer.
- Investigating the patterns of care of patients with pancreatic cancer and quality of life and supportive care needs of patients and their carers.
