Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is cancer of the passageway between the nose and throat. This cancer is rare in Caucasians, but has a high incidence in Asian populations. NPC has been associated with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a common virus that causes infectious mononucleosis (glandular fever) and more rarely, some forms of leukaemia.
Our research focuses on:- Developing an immunotherapy vaccine that will treat NPC and prevent future incidences of the disease.
- Researching targets for viral therapies against EBV.
