Eligibility Criteria
Patients with hyperplastic polyposis syndrome at any age.Patients with multiple serrated polyps:
- those with 5 or more serrated (hyperplastic) polyps under 50 years of age
- those with 10 or more serrated (hyperplastic) polyps aged 50-59 years
- those with 15 or more serrated (hyperplastic) polyps aged 60-69 years
Patients with 2 or more atypical serrated polyps:
- Over 1 cm in diameter up to age 69 OR
- With advanced histology such as sessile serrated adenomas, serrated adenomas and mixed polyps to age 69
Any serrated (hyperplastic) polyps which are large (>10mm) or atypical (sessile serrated adenoma, serrated adenoma, mixed polyp) in a person with a family history of colorectal cancer or serrated polyps
Procedure for enrolling patients
- Offer an Information Kit (
163kB) if agreeable. These can be downloaded from the website or obtained as a kit with a return envelope by contacting Belinda.Nagler@qimr.edu.au - Notify Familial Cancer Laboratory of patient’s details by emailing Belinda.Nagler@qimr.edu.au
- Patient will be contacted by Familial Cancer Laboratory in one to two months to determine whether they wish to participate (if we have not heard back from them)
- Patient can return completed consent form and questionnaire to Familial Cancer Laboratory by post.
Arrangements will then be made to take a blood sample at no cost to the patient.
