The Higher Degrees Committee (HDC) is responsible for graduate and postgraduate studies.
The HDC:
- Provides information about projects and research opportunities to prospective students.
- Assesses the suitability of applicants for research studies at QIMR.
- Ensures that supervisory, laboratory and financial arrangements are suitable for each student
- Monitors the student's progress by review throughout their degree.
- Provides mentorship and mediation if any difficulties arise.
- Advises the Director of the Institute on all matters relating to research students at QIMR.
Membership of the HDC comprises the Director of the Institute, representatives of each research unit, three student representatives (including an international student representative), the Dean of Postgraduate Studies of The University of Queensland, and a representative of The University of Queensland Medical School, School of Population Health.
