The Institute is governed by the QIMR Council. |
Professor John Hay was appointed as Chair of QIMR Council by the Queensland Government in September 2009. Professor Hay was Vice-Chancellor of The University of Queensland from 1996-2007. |

The Director and CEO is responsible for the research work undertaken by the Institute and management of our employees. |
Professor Frank Gannon is QIMR's seventh Director and CEO. |

Her Excellency Penelope Wensley AO, Governor of Queensland Her Excellency Penelope Wensley is the Governor of Queensland and a former Australian diplomat. Born in Toowoomba, she was educated at The University of Queensland where she graduated with a first-class honours degree in English and French literature. |
